With your help we’ve raised over £14,000 for Will Aid

The Wills & Probate team here at Best are really proud of our ongoing support and dedication towards the annual Will Aid charity will writing scheme.

The scheme runs every November and last year we raised £14,100 ranking us the second highest donating firm in the North East and 7^th in the UK.

For a very small team of four, this is an amazing achievement! To celebrate we, along with a rep from the British Red Cross (one of the nine participating charities we work with), were invited to a certificate presentation by Will Aid to celebrate our achievement. It was a great opportunity to meet the team and find out more about what they do.

Will Aid is a special partnership between the legal profession and nine of the UK’s most-loved charities. The charities in 2023 were ActionAid, Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, Save the Children, SCIAF, Sightsavers and Trocaire.

By participating in WillAid, we raise vital funds for these wonderful causes, whilst ensuring that our clients gain the reassurance of knowing that they have a professionally written Will.

In October 2023, a national Will-writing charity revealed that over 59% of UK adults do not have Wills in place to protect their loved ones after they are gone. WillAid is a great way to make a difference to this figure.

During the scheme, our legal advisors generously volunteer their time and expertise to write basic Wills. We waive our normal fees for a basic Will and instead invite people to make an upfront donation to Will Aid.

All donations are then divided between the nine charities, however you can leave a legacy to one or more WillAid charities (or any other charity) in your Will also.

If your Will is more complex than a basic Will, we can work with you to agree a separate fee for the extra work involved. This is always established at the first meeting when our legal advisors discuss your circumstances. We also give our clients the chance to discuss other legal matters such as Lasting Powers of Attorney.
