About the Job:

As the Head of Personal Injury and Medical Negligence, you will provide strategic direction and day-to-day management for a small, dedicated team. You will be responsible for your own caseload of personal injury and clinical negligence files, ensuring all matters are handled with technical precision and a high standard of client care. This role involves effective delegation, risk management, and maintaining the department’s high standards of professional conduct.

 

Skills Required:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:

• Legal Expertise: Minimum 4 years’ PQE in Personal Injury and Medical Negligence.

• Management Experience: Proven experience in supervising or managing a legal team.

• Technical Ability: Strong drafting, document-review, and negotiation skills.

• Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to explain complex legal matters clearly.

• Organisation: High attention to detail and the ability to manage a busy caseload effectively.

• Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with SRA, CQS, and AML regulatory requirements.

• Team Player: A proactive and flexible attitude toward the needs of the firm.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership: Manage and support a specialist team of legal professionals.

• Caseload Management: Handle a diverse caseload of personal injury and medical negligence matters from instruction to completion.

• Technical Supervision: Oversee and review work produced by junior staff to ensure accuracy and compliance.

• Client Care: Act as the primary point of contact for complex cases, providing clear and timely legal advice.

• Operational Oversight: Ensure the department meets high standards of risk management and record-keeping.

• Collaboration: Work alongside other senior members of the firm to ensure smooth departmental operations.

• Strategy: Ensure the department continues to provide a high-quality, efficient service to all clients.
