Understanding Road traffic accidents

Often when people think about road traffic accidents (RTA) they picture two vehicles colliding. This is not always the case. We’re increasingly supporting claimants injured in road traffic accidents involving motor vehicles, especially those traveling on foot, horseback, or increasingly on pushbikes.

The rise of cycling and its implications

We believe RTA’s involving a motor vehicle and a bicycle have seen an increase since the introduction of more cycle lanes into cities. Cycling has been increasingly more popular as a sport and also as a method of travelling as a cheaper alternative to avoid high rising fuel costs and congestion charges and a cleaner and greener way to travel.

Importance of insurance

While it’s not mandatory for cyclists and horse riders to have insurance when using the road, it’s wise to secure your own public liability insurance. This serves as important protection in case you cause an accident or, if you’re riding, if your horse gets loose and damages someone’s property.

Eligible for compensation?

If you were injured in a road traffic accident within the last three years and think it wasn’t your fault, you could be eligible to file a claim.

You can contact us and then we would work with you to ascertain if you do have a case and then go from there.

If won, the compensation would aim to put you in a similar financial position to before the claim.

This could include reimbursing you for loss of earnings, private treatment costs (e.g physiotherapy/prescription charges), damages to property (e.g bike/clothing) and/ or care and assistance which you may have required as a result of not being able to care for yourself.
