A Community Effort with Lasting Impact

In June, We proudly partnered with Ashgate Hospice for a Will Month fundraiser aimed at giving back to the local community while helping families plan for the future.

As part of the initiative, our Wills & Probate department offered professional Will writing without charging our standard fee. Instead, clients were encouraged to make a suggested donation of £75 to Ashgate Hospice, a local charity that delivers essential end-of-life care across North Derbyshire.

This collaborative effort raised a brilliant £1,195 in just two weeks. Each donation will directly support Ashgate’s vital work, helping patients and their families during some of life’s most difficult times.

What made the campaign especially meaningful was its dual purpose, encouraging future planning while also supporting a cause that truly matters to our community. For many, the act of writing a Will became an opportunity to leave behind a legacy that benefits others.

Making Will Writing More Accessible

Beyond fundraising, Will Month gave us a platform to raise awareness about something often overlooked: the importance of having a valid Will in place. More than half of UK adults currently don’t have one, which can lead to serious complications for their loved ones down the line.

We understand that writing a Will can feel daunting. That’s why we focused on making the process as approachable and flexible as possible. Whether through home visits, phone appointments, or video calls, our team was ready to meet clients where they felt most comfortable.

This approach helped remove the usual barriers to legal services, especially for elderly individuals or those with mobility issues. It made a meaningful task feel less like a chore, and more like a step toward peace of mind. Ellie from the Wills & Probate department explained:

“We wanted this campaign to be about more than paperwork. It’s about empowering people to take control of their future, while also giving them a way to contribute to something bigger than themselves.”

Growing Our Presence in Chesterfield

The fundraiser also coincided with a milestone in our firm’s journey, the recent opening of our Chesterfield office at the Northern Gateway Enterprise Centre. As we continue to expand into new areas, we’re committed to building strong local connections and becoming part of the communities we serve.

Partnering with Ashgate Hospice, a deeply respected charity in the region, was a natural fit. The campaign gave us the opportunity to not only introduce ourselves to Chesterfield residents, but to do so by contributing to a cause many hold dear.
